Clean Energy Jobs in a Net-Zero World
Dr. Stefan Pauer is a climate & energy expert and the Manager of Technology and Economic Analysis at Clean Energy Canada
With the U.S. investing half a trillion dollars in clean energy and other countries quickly following suit, the global energy transition has become an impending reality. Indeed, the number of people working in clean energy jobs worldwide recently overtook fossil fuels for the first time. Based on a recent modelling study looking at a major oil-producing nation, Dr. Pauer will examine what Canada’s energy sector will look like in 2050 in a net-zero world. Spoiler alert: While emissions will plunge, energy jobs certainly will not.

Dr. Stefan Pauer is a climate & energy expert and the Manager of Technology and Economic Analysis at Clean Energy Canada, a think tank based at Simon Fraser University. Before joining Clean Energy Canada, Dr. Pauer carried out interdisciplinary research on carbon pricing in California and Europe at the University of British Columbia. Previously, he worked as a Policy Officer at the European Commission, where he helped develop and implement the European Union’s carbon market.
