About xista science ventures

xista is the umbrella term for the innovation ecosystem within, around or spearheaded by the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA). xista science ventures (xsv) is an independent Venture Capital firm that is located at xista science park in Klosterneuburg and was set up to invest in early stage deeptech and life science startup companies, particularly in spinoffs emanating from Austrian research institutions. xsv Fund I (€45M) invested in 21 companies across the scientific spectrum, and Fund II will soon start making new investments with a similar strategy.

INGRID KELLY SPILLMANN

Dr. Ingrid Kelly holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge. After working for a number of years as a European patent attorney she switched into technology transfer, first at the University of Vienna and then at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA). Ingrid has been working in the investment team of xista science ventures since 2018.

Alexander Schwartz

ALEXANDER SCHWARTZ

Partner, xista science ventures

Alexander is a partner at xista science ventures, investing in startups across chemistry, physics, and life sciences. A trained chemist with deep consulting experience, he spent over 15 years focusing on innovation and strategy, including eight years with McKinsey’s strategy and chemicals practices. Alexander holds a PhD in chemistry, has conducted research at ETH Zurich, Harvard University, and IIASA, and serves on various boards, including SW Umwelttechnik AG, the Houska Prize jury and the Harvard Club of Austria.
